Կենսական տարրեր են կոչվում այն քիմիական տարրի ատոմները, որոնք առաջացնում են բարդ օրգանական նյութեր (սպիտակուցներ, նուկլեինաթթուներ, ածխաջրեր, ճարպեր, վիտամիններ) որոնք էլ ապահովում են կենդանի օրգանիզմի կենսագործունեությունը։
